You have to believe this... Otherwise there wouldnt be enough Altec equipment left to generate all the interest it does and all over the world.

There is more than a "few" people looking for Altecs in about every language you can imagine. The new shiny things just dont sound like the big A's.... Will you agree with that?

These are Software Engineers.

I hate to tell you this..but MOST companies use computers these days...And Insurance companies use a LOT of them. Insurance companies have many internal applications that deal with their products. That means they hire their own software engineers to write them...or (as AIG did) outsource the whole job. Of the major insurance companies in the US I'll wager they employ well over 5000 software engineers.

I'm lumping the term software engineer to mean..application developers...to DB admins ..to system integrator engineers.

You don't have to hate telling me, telling me is enough. When I see engineers, I unusually think mechanical, electrical, industrial, chemical, etc.

But now there are lots of software engineers.

I have a cousin who has a PhD in computer science from Rutgers, he has only one interview since june of 2009. No body is hiring any body. He can't teach because the Univ Calif and Calif St Univ are absolutely not hiring, not only that, they're planning on lay-offs.

I didn't read the article you linked to, but I've heard the above before. It seems China dictates what their money is worth and artificially keeps it down so as to make it very very attractive for foreign companies to "invest".
